The Jordanian Artists Union has filed a lawsuit against a number of artists demanding them to pay due fees for their participation in the Jordan Festival last year. The lawsuit includes Iraqi singer Kathem El Saher, Egyptian singer Amal Maher and 25 other singers.

Hussein Al Khateeb, Head of the Jordanian Union, said in a press release that the singers owe the Union 3 percent of the total monetary value of the contracts they signed with the organizers of the festival. The total fees due from the singers are around 35 thousand Jordanian Dinars.

Hussein added that according to the legislations in the Union, a fee is required to be paid by any singer or performer that wants to perform in Jordan. Hussein stated that this same rule is applicable in every Arab country.

The union has attempted to contact Kathem and Amal to pay their dues, but neither responded.
