Prominent Syrian singer
Mayada
Al Hinawi
criticized Syrian singer Asalah
Nasri’s support for the protesters in
Syria, who are calling for the resignation of the government of President
Bashar Al Asad. Mayada stated that Asalah has given up her Syrian nationality
and became Egyptian.
According to the
Kuwaiti daily Al-Watan, Mayada considered Asalah’s support for revolution
against the regime of Bashar Al Asad shows she has no patriotism for Syria, and
the fact that she holds an Egyptian and Bahraini citizenships proves that.
Mayda added that Asalah has become so distant from her country that she rarely
speaks with a Syrian dialect.
Recently, Asalah
had publicly announced that she fully supports protesters in Syria and wishes
she could join them for their call for freedom and a true democracy, which
according to her is not practiced under the regime of Bashar Al Asad.
At the same time,
Mayada denied rumors that she had contacted Asalah to congratulate her on the
birth of her twins from her Egyptian husband, director Tareq Al Arian. Mayada
stated that Asalah had never congratulated her when she got married so why
would she congratulate her on the birth of her new babies.
