Prominent Lebanese singer Fadel Shaker recently held a phone interview with Lebanese journalist Joe Ma’louf on the weekly program “Inta Hurr” (You are free) on the satellite channel MTV. During the phone conversation, Shaker stated that members of the Salafiyyah Islamic Movement are people that fear God and follow the teachings of Prophet Mohammad Peace Be Upon Him and they are not considered extremist.
Shaker said that he is a God fearing man that does not drink and practices the teachings of Islam and performs all the pillars. He stated that he had previously announced that he will quit his singing career because he considers singing a sin, but has decided to postpone his resignation to sing in support of the Syrian Revolution and all those that have suffered at the hands of the Syrian brutal government. The singer added that he is disgusted at the actions of the Syrian government that is destroying mosques, burning the holy Quran and raping women.
Shaker stressed that he will sing and the Salafiyyah will not attempt to stop him, for he supports them one hundred percent. He added that singing is a sin, but he has a message to send out and once his message is successfully sent, he will resign for good.
The singer recently took part in a demonstration organized by the Lebanese Salafiyyah Movement calling for an end to the catastrophe taking place in Syria and asking God to protect all Syrians.
