Discussions on the latest prank from Banksy have dominated social media for the last 48 hours with people sharing images and videos from the auction.

On Friday night, the anonymous UK-based street artist, Banksy, played an audacious prank after his best artwork was sold in an auction at Sotheby’s in London for around £1m ($1.3 Million). Shortly soon after the hammer came down on the artwork, it started to slip from the frame through a shredder that destroyed it.

Banksy immediately went to his Instagram account to share the image of the shredded painting with a caption that says: “Going, going, gone…”.

Few hours later, he posted a video on his Instagram showing the work he did to make the frame shredder. It opens with the caption: “A few years ago, I secretly built a shredder into a painting.”

The video was shared all over the internet.
