Daesh (ISIS)’s attack on Kirkuk appears to be over as of Saturday. On Friday, Daesh attacked oil wells near the city and other sites in an attempt to distract opposing forces from the battle for Mosul – Daesh’s largest city. Despite being defeated in Kirkuk, members of the group are apparently celebrating the Kirkuk attack in Mosul, at least according to some Twitter images.

Al Bawaba was unable to immediately confirm the validity of the images.
The Iraqi army and allied forces are advancing towards Daesh-held Mosul, according to multiple reports. The offensive to retake the key city began early Monday morning.
