On Monday, Vodafone Egypt dropped its new promotional campaign, and it could not have gone down better. The video already has hundreds of thousands of views and 32,000 likes.
The strength of each generation comes from the strength of the generation before it.
Vodafone, the strongest third-generation network, presents to you fourth generation 4G.
Vodafone is the strongest network in Egypt and the world. #OneGenerationCompletesAnother
The commercial shows well established Egyptian stars meeting up-and-coming figures in the world of sport and performing arts. Egyptian celebrities such as football legend Mohamed Aboutrika, actress and dancer Nelly Karim, former world squash number one Amr Shabana and actor Ahmed El Sakka, all mentor their younger counterparts to ultimate success across two-and-a-half dramatic minutes.
Part of the key to the advert’s success is that these stars have shared it to their considerable social media audiences:
Mohamed Aboutrika acted as guide for Ramadan Sobhi, 19-year-old midfielder with British club Stoke City:
While Amr Shabana trained up-and-coming squash champion Ramy Ashour, who became world number one in 2010:
Meanwhile, Nelly Karim is shown training with young dancer and actress Jamila Awad
The response from Egyptians has been overwhelmingly positive:
A screenshot of Ramadan running behind Trika after the goal in the advert is the best bit... you have to be happy and sad at the same time #OneGenerationCompletesAnother #Vodafone
This new advert is truly brilliant.
Vodafone has never failed to impress me with its commercials since i was a kid literally. #جيل_بيكمل_جيل— Lilo (@Sunflowerrr___) December 19, 2016
While the concept might have captured Egyptian hearts, it appears some are still on the fence about the company itself, however:
Imagine, your advert is 2:40 but I watched it over 13 minutes because your network is so strong...
Launched in 1998, Vodafone Egypt is the country’s largest telephone company in terms of customer volume.
