Egypt could soon be entering a bold new era of undersea travel, with the introduction of a “motorcycle of the sea” which enables users to travel by bike underwater.
The idea is set to be the latest attraction in Sharm el Sheikh, a popular diving resort on Egypt’s Red Sea Coast.
Although some doubts have been cast over the veracity of some of the photographs of the scooter of the sea (look closely at the snaps and the dimensions of the vehicles are different in each frame) it appears that the new technology is for real.
Albawaba spoke with HS Travel, the company that published the video of the motorbikes, which said that the bikes were currently on trial and would be launched soon.
The potential Sea Scooters have captured the imaginations of Egyptian Twitter, and most people are enthusiastic about the prospect of biking under the sea.

After we’re finished with the motorcycles of the sea, we can move on to the Shisha of the sea.
Sharm el Sheikh has long been one of Egypt’s leading resorts, but recently it’s suffered a catastrophic downturn thanks to political turmoil and terror threats in Egypt. Could motorcycles of the sea put the gas back in the country’s tourist economy?
