Daesh (ISIS) media arm Amaq has released footage of soldiers that apparently shows soldiers from the US-backed New Syrian Army who defected to the militant group. The New Syrian Army is fighting Daesh in eastern Syria. Images of Amaq’s report appeared on Twitter, as well as the r/syriancivilwar subreddit.

The above images posted by @sayed_ridha–a popular account for Syria developments–are clearly from Amaq. However, there is seemingly no proof that the fighters are from The New Syrian Army. Another video posted to Twitter shows interviews with the apparently defected soldiers, but there is no sound, at least at the moment.
The report hasn’t appeared anywhere else aside from the pro-regime Al Masdar News site.
The New Syrian Army is a US-backed rebel group that is part of the Free Syrian Army (FSA). They fight Daesh in eastern Syria, but not the regime of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.
