Abbas: Recent Arab summit discussed war against Israel

Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, said in remarks published by the Egyptian press on Friday that participants in the recent Arab summit held in Sirte, Libya thought about the idea of going to a war against Israel, but backed away immediately. He said that the Arab leaders though during the summit which was held last March about war against Israel and even counted the number of tanks and planes they have but then retracted immediately,

Turning to the current situation, Abbas stressed that he would not enter direct negotiations with Israel in the event of failure to reach common ground on the issues of borders and national security. Abbas also stated that he would not declare the a Palestinian state unilaterally.
