An Egyptian court has sentenced 183 Muslim Brotherhood members to death for storming a police station and killing 16 police officers, Reuters reports.
In August 2013, 16 policemen were killed in the town of Kerdasa during clashes following the overthrow of former president Mohammad Morsi.
The attack followed Egyptian forces violently dispersing protesters gathered in solidarity for former president Morsi.
Thirty-four defendants were convicted in absentia.
Since General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi became president by forcefully removing democratically elected Morsi from power in 2013, Egypt has witnessed a deadly crackdown on Muslim Brotherhood members.
