Gaza City: Hamas security forces disperse demonstration

According to eyewitnesses in Gaza Strip, Hamas security forces on Thursday dispersed a demonstration by young men and women in front of the headquarters of the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to demand an end to division. The witnesses said that "members of the police dispersed violently a demonstration by more than 100 young men and women. They added that "a number of young men managed to enter the headquarters and staged a sit-in."

Eyewitnesses said that dozens of police officers beat demonstrators with batons, and arrested a number of other young protesters. 

A demonstrator who managed to enter the UNRWA headquarters with his mother and his wife, and a number of young men and women said: "We came to this safe place away from the brutality of the security services, who haunt us in every place, and prevent us from exercising our right to protest," adding, "We came here after the security services, who suppress any protest, continued our pursuit. "

Members of Hamas security forces and police stormed on Wednesday, Al-Azhar University in Gaza, and scuffled with students protesting inside the campus. They demanded an end to domestic division.
