Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz is alive, a close aide to a senior member of the ruling family told Reuters on Thursday. Since Thursday morning there are many rumors about the monarch's demise in Morocco. "The rumors aren't true," said the Saudi-based source was quoted as saying.
There has been no official statement regarding the rumors by the Saudi government.
Meanwhile, the Saudi foreign minister has postponed a planned visit to Algeria for "personal reasons", Algeria's foreign ministry said on Thursday. "For personal reasons that concern Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal, his visit to Algiers on Thursday has been postponed," the ministry said.
