The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that troops killed at least one civilian during a massive raid on the city of Homs. This came hours after the opening of a "national dialogue" conference which was boycotted by the opposition.
The Observatory said that at least 20 people were injured as residents tried to protect themselves from the armored vehicles. According to the residents, this was heaviest raid since the protests started in Homs, the third largest city in Syria.
Meanwhile, sources in Tehran said talks between Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmed Davutoglu and his Iranian counterpart, Ali Akbar Salehi, focused on the situation in Syria. The sources told al Hayat newspaper that the Turkish minister was keen to clarify the position of his country regarding the Syrian developments. Sources close to the Turkish Embassy in Tehran, said the Turkish minister called on Iran to pressure the Syrian government to carry out quick political reforms.
