Four persons were killed and 23 went missing when a boat collided with a cargo vessel along the oil-rich Nigerian city of Port Harcourt, state-run Daily Times newspaper reported Monday.
The accident occurred on Saturday on the Port Harcourt-Buguma river when the 35-passenger boat capsized immediately after the collision, the paper said.
It said divers had recovered four bodies, while the fate of 23 others was still unknown.
The paper said eight people had survived the accident and swum to safety.
The victims were said to be traveling to the nearby town of Bakana for a funeral when the accident occurred.
The cause of the collision could not immediately be ascertained Monday as neither the police nor government officials in Port Harcourt could be reached for comment.
