Palestinians from the Gaza Strip fired a new longer-range Qassam rocket Sunday that landed in the Zikim beach, just south of the coastal city of Ashkelon, according to the Israeli army. No injuries or damage were reported.
This marks the furthest distance north a Qassam rocket has
reached inside Israel.
The rocket, a Qassam 2, fired for the first time Sunday, has a longer range than the regular home-made Qassam rockets used previously by Hamas, was fired from a different area of the Gaza Strip, landing barely one kilometer from Ashkelon. (Albawaba.com)
