A Hamad Medical Corporation delegation from the Infection Control Department has traveled to United Kingdom to participate in the 7th International Conference of the Hospital Infection Society. The conference will take place from 10th – 13th October.

The delegation includes Dr. Mamoun Al Sheikh, Assistant Executive Director of the Infection Control Program, and Dr. Jammelah Al-Khuwair, Vice Chairman of the HMC Infection Control Committee. In this global conference, HMC will deliver scientific and a poster presentations, along with many other international medical professionals. A number of organizations associated with infection control will also take part.الاستماع

The conference, which is held annually in the city of Liverpool aims to discuss the latest scientific findings regarding controlling diseases that are transmitted by viruses, bacteria, or fungi. In the context of this conference, several scientific papers will be discussed, the most prominent of which are nosocomial infections, tuberculosis, bacterial resistance to antibiotics, medical education in infection control, and virology updates regarding infection control.

Dr. Mamoun Al Sheikh, stressed the importance of HMC participation in this conference, by saying, "Hamad Medical Corporation is accustomed to participate and attend several medical conferences, and it is one of the pioneering institutions in the field of infection control at the regional and international level ". He stressed that the infection control program adopted by HMC abides by international protocols and standards.

Dr. Mamoun Al Sheikh pointed out the importance and effectiveness of such a conference that receives considerable attention. This conference is considered to be one of the most pivotal conferences in the field of infection control. The scientific papers to be presented this year will talk about new infectious diseases and the return of other old diseases. Particular papers will also address some protein and bacterial bodies that causes common diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease and Parkinson's Disease.
