Stones were thrown at a motorcade carrying Nabih Berri, President of the Lebanese parliament, in the Syrian-controlled central Bekaa valley on Sunday, witnesses said.
Several stone-throwers lashed out at the procession as it drove through the village of Hellaniye, some 10 kilometers south of Baalbeck.
Berri's security guards fired warning shots into the air forcing the attackers, who damaged vehicles of several MPs accompanying the parliamentary president on a visit to the area, to flee.
Witnesses, cited by AFP, said the army intervened to re-establish order and head the search for the assailants. (Albawaba.com)
