At Christmas, Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Traditional Christmas decorations often can be admired and festive celebrations can be joined in most countries, even in many of the countries where Christianity is not the religion of the majority of people. Christmas trees are a popular decoration as are tiny sparkling lights in windows and on walls.
Christmas is generally celebrated on Christmas Day, the 25th of December. Some countries however have slightly different Christmas traditions and as such festive season celebrations take place over a longer period of time, from the beginning of December to the beginning of January.
In all European countries, gifts are opened on Christmas Eve. Santa Claus and his small gnomes deliver the gifts.
Here are some of the popular Christmas traditions:
- Kissing Under The Mistletoe,
- The Nativity Scene,
- Leaving Santa Milk And Cookies,
- Leaving Naughty Kids Coal.
But this year festivities have been muted as millions cancelled gatherings in line with social distancing rules, while others mourn loved ones lost to the COVID virus.
