ALBAWABA - Days after an Uber driver was sentenced to 15 years in jail in an attempt to kidnap Egyptian girl Habiba Shamaa, another driver was exposed for trying to kidnap an Egyptian famous TV presenter.
The lawyer of the Egyptian TV presenter, Vivian Elfeaky, revealed that the latter was subjected to a similar kidnapping attempt by a driver working for Uber company.
Furthermore, Elfeaky's defense team issued a statement revealing the details of the incident. They also said that the TV presenter won the case and obtained a ruling to imprison the Uber driver and get 100 million Egyptian pounds in compensation from Uber.
The statement said the incident took place on Feb. 7, 2022, when the driver, Mahmoud Sh., who works for Uber, attempted to kidnap the victim, Vivian Elfeaky, while she was riding in the car.
The accused changed the usual route placed by the Uber application, and tightly closed the windows and doors, trying to kidnap her. The victim was robbed of her personal belongings, but as soon as the victim felt in danger, she jumped out of the car and hit the sidewalk in the "First Settlement" area.
After the lawsuit filed by the Egyptian TV presenter, the court issued a ruling to imprison the accused for one year with hard labor for the theft and attempted kidnapping.
Vivian Elfeaky indicated to Cairo24 that passers-by were able to stop the car and get her personal belongings, but he was the driver of the car and fled, which prompted her to file a complaint against him.
