ALBAWABA - Following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, many videos and pictures emerged online claiming to show the aftermath of the place where he was residing in Tehran.

A video that was the most to generate engagement on X (formerly Twitter), showed aerial footage of a destroyed building with rescue workers in the place.

A slight smoke was also rising from the building allegedly said to be the place where Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was targeted and killed in Tehran on July 31.

Misbar released a full report detailing the truth behind the video. It said that for hours, online accounts shared a clip claiming that it showed the place where the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, was assassinated in an "Israeli raid" that targeted his residence in Tehran. However, the video is not true.

It turned out that the video is old and is not related to the assassination of the Hamas leader.

Misbar reported that the video, which was shared on April 1, shows the aftermath of the attack on the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital, Damascus, that killed several members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

The attack in the Mazzeh neighborhood of Damascus completely destroyed the building, with accusations pointing out at Israel.
