ALBAWABA - Swedish activist and Global Sumud Flotilla member Greta Thunberg recently recounted how she was violently mistreated during the five-day Israeli captivity, while also criticizing the Swedish Foreign Ministry for not taking action.

In detail, Thunberg told Swedish outlet Aftonbladet that Israeli forces beat, kicked, and threatened her with being thrown in gassed cages. She further explained how the guards wrapped an Israeli flag around her and repeatedly kicked her as they took turns taking selfies, all while she was tied down.

She said, "I was dragged to a paved area fenced in with iron, and they hit and kicked me while an Israeli flag touched me. They ripped off my frog hat, threw it on the ground, stomped it, and yelled insults in Swedish."

Greta Thunberg added that the guards purposely deprived her and other fellow activists who were on board the Global Sumud Flotilla of food and water, leaving them hungry and dehydrated. She even revealed that some got ill after drinking brown tap water out of necessity.

Thunberg also said that she was threatened by far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who shouted at her, "You are terrorists. You want to kill Jewish babies."

She further described how Israeli guards crammed many of the activists in overcrowded cells where they were subjected to extreme heat.

Although Thunberg and many activists on board the Global Sumud Flotilla were subjected to physical and psychological torture during their five-day detention, she stressed that attention should remain on the Palestinian detainees and Gaza.

Thunberg said, "This is not about me or the others from the flotilla. There are thousands of Palestinians, hundreds of whom are children, who are being held without trial right now, and many of them are most likely being tortured."

Before being detained and halted, the Global Sumud Flotilla's main goal was to break the Israeli siege on Gaza and let in humanitarian aid.
