ALBAWABA - A man, who was believed at the beginning to be an Israeli citizen, was accused of verbally assaulting two females in Egypt's province, south of Sinaa.
A video was shared online showing a tourist verbally abusing two women in one of the provinces in Egypt.
Egypt's Ministry of Interior released a statement on Monday clarifying that authorities are now controlling the whole situation after a video of a foreigner verbally abusing two women went viral and caused controversy on social media.
Many people on social media claimed that the man spotted in the video while assaulting females has Israeli nationality. However, the Interior Ministry clarified the real situation.
On its official Facebook page, the Ministry of Interior posted: "After the circulation of a video clip on social, in which a person with a foreign nationality appears verbally assaulting two girls in South Sinai Governorate, which some said he is an Israeli national."
It added: "Upon examination, it was found that the person who appeared in the video held the nationality of a foreign country and not an Israeli national."
The ministry further noted that the two girls filed a report with the security authorities against him and that legal measures have been taken against him.
In the video that went viral, one of the females accused the man of harassing them on the beach and said that she got it documented on video.
