ALBAWABA - A video of a famous Arab influencer family stirred controversy on social media after filming themselves making a puzzle themed after the late Palestinian journalist Anas Al-Sharif, who was recently killed by a targeted Israeli air strike on Gaza.
The influencers in question are the Miqdad family, who posted a 19-minute clip of themselves participating in a puzzle challenge featuring a picture of Anas Al-Sharif. In the clip, the Miqdad family formed two teams to see who could finish the same puzzle faster.
While many viewed the video as harmless, as they offered their condolences to the late Palestinian journalist, many individuals criticized the family and accused them of using Anas Al-Sharif's name and picture to gain interactions and views on social media.

An Instagram user wrote under a Blinx video, "Obviously, they have good intentions, and the martyr Anas was basically a friend of the family, but you are a community that loves suspicion, and the most important thing is that you come out with a trend, and that's it.
In response, a fellow Instagram user replied, "Was what they did logical? Even his [Anas Al-Sharif's] family is not ok what they did, or do you just want to defend them without knowing anything?"
Another took to the family's defense and wrote, "Frankly speaking, if they are wrong in the way of expression, people exaggerated it, and what would their goal be from mocking him in this video?"
The video titled "Puzzle Challenge with Anas Al-Sharif | An Unexpected Ending!" was shared by Al Mo3tasem Miqdad, the son of Khaled Miqdad, who is also a popular content creator and the CEO of the popular kids TV channel "Toyoraljanah."
Anas Al-Sharif was a Palestinian journalist for Al Jazeera who was best known for his coverage of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023. He was assassinated on Aug. 10, 2025, alongside four other journalists inside a tent outside Al-Shifa Hospital by a targeted Israeli airstrike.
According to Al Jazeera, the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza has resulted in the killing of more than 270 journalists.
