ALBAWABA - Lebanon's minister of water and energy has caused controversy and sparked anger after a photo of himself getting a haircut inside his office.

Walid Fayyad, who has been Minister of Energy and Water in Najib Mikati's government since September 10, 2021, angered people in Lebanon after his latest photo.

"Can you imagine that this man is responsible for the electricity issue in the country?!" a person posted on X. Another commented: "There is no time to waste," furthermore, many questioned what job does Walid Fayyad have following the latest announcement by Lebanon that the last power generation unit at the Zahrani plant has completely ceased operations.

What caused the fuss was that despite the electricity outage and the issues in the power field in Lebanon, the minister's office was very shiny.

Others claimed that the minister has no work to do since Lebanon announced days ago total depletion of gas oil supplies led to the forced shutdown of the Zahrani plant's final operational power-producing on Aug. 17.

According to official sources, the Lebanon outage has affected vital infrastructure, including ports, airports, water pumping stations, sewage treatment plants, and prisons.

Following Lebanon's announcement regarding energy and electricity, Algeria immediately said that it would start providing fuel to Lebanon's power plants.

The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed: "President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has ordered an immediate supply of fuel to Lebanon to operate power generation stations and restore electricity in the country."
