Only a few hours after the shocking death of Chadwick Boseman, online activist Shaun King has stirred controversy yet another time as screenshots of a mass-email, he had sent to followers asking them to buy his book while posting several emotional lines mourning the death of the famous black star went viral. The act was perceived as if he is "taking advantage of the unfortunate occasion."
Shaun King is using the death of Chadwick Boseman to sell his book and it is GROTESQUE.

The screenshots that were widely shared online prompted social media users to heavily attack King saying that this is not the first time he used black suffering to make personal gains. Some tweets also questioned whether King is black in the first place, saying that "he is white and is just using the black cause for fame."
I literally do not make a penny off of sales for my book. Nothing.

Got paid a year ago to write it.
I had a mass email pre-scheduled to go out this morning about my book.
I updated the email to also mention the death of Chadwick. And I don’t regret it. At all.
There’s that.

Responding to the attacks that made his name trend on Twitter for several hours, Shaun King tweeted that his book "Make Change" isn't generating any money and that he had scheduled the email to be sent to 250k online followers promoting the book ahead of Boseman's surprising death and that "he only edited its content to honor the late actor before it was sent out to followers."
Shaun King is using Chadwicks death to sell books, he claims don’t make him any money. I’m so tired of SK profiting off of Black death. pic.twitter.com/XEd8s8tJd1

In his tweet, King stated that "he doesn't regret the email at all."
Shaun King had previously triggered online debates after former staffers at the North Star that he heads came forward and talked about his controlling behavior and his inability to drive newspaper's deliverables despite having raised millions of money for that purpose.
This man has a long, documented history of this type of thing and it’s a shame it continue to happen. America, it’s really weird esp bc there never seem to be any repercussions for anyone who does harm the Black community. Really scratching my head here.
