A US-based journalist has just revealed that the presidential plane landed safely in Marylands' Andrews Air Base after 'an imminent accident' that he described in detail in a tweet.
@realDonaldTrump just landed at Andrews on AF1. Shortly before, while descending,we flew right over a small object, remarkably close to the president’s plane. Resembled a drone though I’m no expert. pic.twitter.com/roDFgpp4XH

According to AFP White House correspondent Sebastian Smith, the AF1 plane usually carrying the US President survived what could have been a crash, saying that he witnessed a drone "remarkably close" to the AF1, as the plane was descending in preparation for landing.
Smith speculated that the object that he was able to watch from the plane "resembled a drone" but that he wasn't sure.

That wasn't an accident.

Moments after the journalist's tweet, social media exploded with questions and comments wondering how and why a drone could fly so close to the presidential plane, with some calling on "whoever did this to be held accountable."
Other comments wondered if the drone was a military one which was watching over AF1, while others expressed their worry that a drone would pose a threat to the plane carrying the commander-in-chief, "while it is totally prepared to survive a direct nuclear attack."
A military chopper in his entourage was hit by gunfire last week in Virginia, no coincidence.

One tweet went on the "reveal" that a military helicopter was hit last week in the nearby state of Virginia, although there have been no official reports of the alleged incident.
Meanwhile, some online people downplayed the news, saying that it could be "a PR stunt to help the president's popularity" ahead of tough elections next November.
I don't think they are trying to 'off' Trump. Likely a PR stunt to help get a bump in the polls. Trump is still on the 3rd temple sheckle (hint), he's not going anywhere. At least till after 11/3. Also, to further restrict personal drones (because, well, 'things' can be attached)
