Video captures American Airlines plane collision moment with military helicopter

ALBAWABA - A passenger plane carrying 60 passengers and 4 crew members collided midair with a US military helicopter near Reagan National Airport outside of Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.

CNN reported citing the Federal Aviation Administration and defense officials that the American Airlines plane crashed with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter before it landed on the runway.

On the other hand, three soldiers, who were performing training, were on board the military helicopter before it crashed with the passenger plane, according to American officials.

The American Airlines Flight 5342 with 64 people, had departed from Wichita, Kansas, according to the airline.

Videos showing the moment of the crash between the American Airlines plane and a military helicopter were posted on social media. 

Fatalities have been confirmed as rescuers are unable to pull any survivors from the Potomac River where the plane crashed after colliding with the helicopter, a law enforcement source revealed. 

US Vice President JD Vance posted on X: "Please say a prayer for everyone involved in the mid-air collision near Reagan airport this evening. We're monitoring the situation, but for nowو let's hope for the best."

In addition, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security  Kristi Noem wrote: "We are deploying every available US Coast Guard resource for search and rescue efforts in this horrific incident at DCA. We are actively monitoring the situation & stand ready to support local responders. Praying for the victims and first responders."
