ALBAWABA - Current presidential candidate and ex-US president Donald Trump recently announced joining the video-sharing social media platform TikTok by posting his first-ever video on it becoming the talk of the internet and making headlines across news outlets yet again.

The video in question was posted on Donald Trump's official TikTok account "realdonaldtrump" and had the President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Dana White introducing the ex-president to the platform.

Moreover, it had Trump saying that it's "His honor" to join the platform despite saying in the past that TikTok is a national security threat to the USA which got users across social media confused about the move he made.

One user added, "He said it was a national security threat a few years ago. What changed?" and another user verified the news after sharing a screenshot of the account on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Amid the news, several Donald Trump supporters started demanding that the political figure and businessman should get back on X after the platform banned him in 2021 despite garnering 88.9 million followers.

According to Al Jazeera, The US House of Representatives passed a bill in Apr. 2024 with a strong majority, signaling a potential ban on the famous Chinese app unless TikTok's owner divests from its operations.

The bill comes after high concerns about data privacy and national security, with fears that ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, could be compelled by the Chinese government to hand over user data.
