ALBAWABA - Amid the ongoing trend of #Blockout2024 which had users blocking celebrities who aren't vocal about the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, comes a new trend under #Follow2024 with the main aim of supporting pro-Palestine accounts across social media.
Two Instagram accounts (shaymatamimi_and cairo_mockingbird) coalbed together and made a post with the hashtag #Follow2024 taking the spotlight in hopes of getting it trending across the platform with a caption that read:
"Mention the most important and valuable accounts, because their support is important to continue providing relevant and useful content and contribute to its reach to everyone. Improving and enriching Arabic content is our responsibility, support the deserving so that their valuable content reaches others."
What is #Follow2024? New trend to support pro-Palestine celebrities
Users took to the comment section of the post and expressed their excitement about the matter with many also recommending celebrities and accounts posting about the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza.
One user brought up American rapper Macklemore who has been quite vocal about Gaza and also recently released a song about the matter under the name "Hind's Hall" which talks about the six-year-old Hind Rajab who lost her life due to the ongoing aggression since Oct. 7, 2023, alongside her family.
More users took to the post's comment section and swarmed it with accounts that covered news about ongoing aggression in Gaza including accounts such as Eye on Palestine, Saleh Al Jafarawi, Free Palestine Australia, Motaz Azaiza, and many more!

On the other hand, The #blockout2024 list included nearly a hundred celebrities as many started losing followers across their official social media accounts including Kim Kardashian, Hailey and Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, and many more as well.
Take in mind that Blockout 2024's official Instagram account was shut down recently by Meta triggering further outrage on social media among users.
The trend was triggered after several videos surfaced across social media platforms of users shaming celebrities for attending the Met Gala while Palestinians are dying in Gaza calling it "insensitive" and referring to the world we live in as "The Hunger Games".
