The money will be administered under the direct supervision of Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed.Teams have already started identifying needy families in Jeddah as well as those whose homes were damaged by the rains.The Welfare Stores, a welfare society, will be responsible for administering the money to eligible families under the supervision of Jeddah’s Department of Social Affairs.
Deputy chairman of the committee, Abdullah bin Dakheellah Al-Muhamadi, told Arab News that contracts would be signed with companies to supply damaged houses with furniture and electric appliances.He added that contracts would also be signed to repair damaged homes and provide school bags and clothes for needy families.He said poor families would have their homes well-furnished and equipped using the grant provided by the king."Under the directives of Prince Mishaal, high quality furniture and electric appliances with warranties will be provided to the poor families," he said.
He said Prince Mishaal gave them orders to ensure that air-conditioners, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators and other equipment should be of high quality and with guarantees.Meanwhile, chairman of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation in Makkah province Rashid bin Muhamamd Al-Zahrani said 138 houses damaged by the rains were repaired within five days. He said 22 field teams were repairing damaged houses and cars.
