Sheikh Nasser Al Mohammed Al Sabah officially opens Kuwait Concours d’Elegance

His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al Mohammed Al Ahmed Al-Jaber Al Sabah, Kuwait’s Prime Minster has officially opened the second Kuwait Concours d’Elegance.  This prestigious event is being held under the patronage of His Highness and organized by Kuwait’s Historical Vintage & Classic Cars Museum between 2nd and 6th of February 2011. The official opening was attended by Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah, number of ministers in addition to the advisors of His Highness the Prime Minister and  others senior state officials and governors and members of the diplomatic corps in Kuwait.

Expressing his gratitude and pride, Ahmed S. Alenizi, Member of Kuwait’s Historical Vintage & Classic Cars Museum said:  “We were honoured to have His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al Mohammed Al Ahmed Al-Jaber Al Sabah, Kuwait’s Prime Minster supporting this international event for the second consecutive year. This year’s competition is part of the country’s national celebrations, celebrating Kuwait’s Golden Jubilee year since independence and its 20th year since liberation as well as the 5th anniversary of the ascendance of His Highness, The Amir Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to the Leadership of the State of Kuwait.   

“This year’s event will be larger and more varied than before.  Highlights will include classic cars, royal and presidential cars, cars made famous from Hollywood movies, muscle cars, Italian sports cars and a motorbike show, as well as a large selection of some of the world’s rarest, most valuable, and most exotic models.

“Talking about all this leads me to express my gratitude to members of Kuwait’s Historical Vintage & Classic Cars Museum with a special thanks to Mr. Abdul Aziz Saud Ishaq, Head of the organizing committee.” added Alenizi.

Zakaria Dashti, Head of Information & Media at the Historical, Vintage & Classic Cars Museum of Kuwait said: “The first Kuwait Concours d’Elegance, held last year,  was placed number five amongst the world’s best auto competitions. We hope that this year’s competition will even be in a better position, since the event will be larger and more varied than before.” 

“Discovery channel is providing live and complete coverage of the Concours over a four-day period on "Chasing Classic Cars", the most renowned classical car series, hosted by the international presenter Wayne Carini, in addition to live coverage of the Concours via Nilesat at 11555 vertically. This channel broadcasts its programs 24 hour a day and there will be many programs and live coverage of activities held during the Concours at the Marina.  

“Visitors of Kuwait’s Concours d’Elegance will enjoy variety of side events on daily bases, including USA-1 - a gathering of modern American Sports Cars & Trucks; cars like Corvette, Camaro, Mustang, Ford GT, Challenger, Shelby, Hummer, 4x4 Trucks and other modern American vehicles, La Bella Italia - a gathering of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, De Tomaso and other special Italian beauties, Bike Show - Kuwait Riders is organizing the biggest gathering of motorbikes in Kuwait, with amazing bikes from the Gulf region and the Arab world. Porsche Club of Kuwait, and an enormous gathering of American muscle and classic cars from the sixties and seventies.” added Dashti.
