Nothing is more demanding than keeping up with the celebrity’s love life. Unlike ordinary types who settle down with one person, the celebrity moves from one marriage to another, often with only months to separate them.
But when they do split up, the news is bigger than Gaza rockets or Syrian civil war. For the celebrity, a love lost must be splashed all over the headlines, preferably following a series of candid interviews about their own pain, the dreaded mother-in-law and some suggestion of government interference.
A celebrity divorce would not be the same without some suggestion of ulterior motives and dodgy dealings. The perfect scandalous mix should also include a religious pilgrimage and rumors of cheating.
However, the same can’t be said for the get-togethers for if a male celebrity dare to date someone outside their country of origin, legions of angry Arab women will rise up to revolt.
The perfect celebrity wife must be unattractive enough to placate female fans but pretty enough to be taken out to public events and woe betide her if she can’t cook or (shock!) wants to live outside the region.
In the end, the most important part of any celebrity marriage or divorce is to talk about it at every moment possible, preferably with cameras rolling.
