A late goal from defender Faouzi Ghoulam helped Algeria snatch a vital 3-3 away draw against Ethiopia in the African Nations Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.

The Napoli defender converted a penalty with five minutes remaining to rescue the Deserts Warriors from conceding their first defeat in the qualifiers.

Getaneh Kebede gave the hosts the lead in the 29th minute but Algeria's in-form striker Islam Slimani netted the equaliser two minutes before the break.

Kebede scored again to make it 2-1 in the 50th minute but Aissa Mandi restored parity 12 minutes later.

Ethiopia's forward Dawit Fikadu responded quickly after scoring the third goal for the hosts on 62 minutes, but Ghoulam's late spot kick gave Algeria precious point.

Algeria, who hammered Ethiopia 7-1 on Friday, kept their position on top of Group J with 10 points, five ahead of second-placed Ethiopia.

Earlier in the day, Lesotho defeated Seychelles 2-1 in the same group.

In Group H, Rwanda outclassed Mauritius 5-0 to move second with six points, four behind leaders Ghana.

Senegal maintained their winning run in Group K after claiming a 2-1 away win over Niger, thanks to goals from Moussa Konate and  Pape Alioune Ndiaye who scored on 22 and 41 minutes respectively.

Victorien Adebayor scored a consolation for Niger six minutes after the hour mark.

Senegal are on top of the group with maximum 12 points while Niger remained at the bottom with three points.
