Liverpool (0-0-0) return to the UEFA Champions League for the first time in five years and Anfield is expected to be rocking for their first European night in far too long. However, the Reds are struggling to find their feet so far this season and this could be the match where they break out and get things truly kicked off.

Injuries to Daniel Sturridge, Emre Can, Joe Allen and Glen Johnson will see multiple youngsters make their European debut for the Reds while Lazar Markovic will miss out due to suspension. The Reds need a big match from Raheem Sterling and Mario Balotelli after a frustrating loss to Aston Villa at the weekend.

Ludogorets Razgrad (0-0-0) are the true Cinderella story of this year’s competition. The Bulgarian side made it into the Group Stage thanks to a defender playing in goal making several massive saves in a penalty shootout and now the small club will be experiencing some of the best atmospheres of their careers. However, they are not expected to have much to offer against some of Europe’s elite.

Unfortunately for the Bulgarians both their first and second choice keepers are not available with Vladislav Stoyanov suspended and Ivan Cvorovic is suffering from a shoulder injury. Despite what is certain to be an amazing night for Ludogorets to remember as their first group stage appearance, they are set up to be a whipping club for the Reds as Brendan Rodgers' side need a big win to get them back on their feet.

Projected Lineups

Liverpool XI:
Mignolet: Manquillo, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno; Henderson, Gerrard, Coutinho; Sterling; Lambert, Balotelli.

Ludogorets XI: Argilashki: Caicara, Terziev, Moti, Minev; Espinho, Dyakov; Aleksandrov, Marcelinho, Misidjan; Bezjak.
