Chelsea v Newcastle: Projected lineups as Blues look to avoid another Magpie embarrassment
Chelsea v Newcastle: Projected lineups as Blues look to avoid another Magpie embarrassment

In their last five meetings in the Premier League Chelsea have fallen to Newcastle three times, and have lost the last two straight between the club's.

An early set back when they lost at St. James' Park in early November, Chelsea have risen to the occasion since then and are sitting just two points back of Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Ironically on the same day that they lost to Newcastle in November, Arsenal defeated Liverpool. Now the Reds have the chance to return the favor as they host the Gunners in hopes of earning a crucial three points for their top four bid.

Chelsea could take great pleasure in the Reds helping out in the early match prior to their clash with Newcastle whom are in a rough run of form since the departure of midfield linchpin, Yohan Cabaye.

Sunderland crushed the spirit of Newcastle last weekend and they need a strong performance at Stamford Bridge to save face.

Fernando Torres returned to Chelsea training this week but he is still believed not fit for action and Samuel Eto'o is expected to maintain his place in what is likely to be the same eleven that defeated Manchester City earlier this week on Monday.

Newcastle's injury list continues to grow and the suspension of Loic Remy will greatly hamper their attacking strength once again and further injuries to Shola Ameobi and Yoann Gouffran will also cause negative effect seeing Luuk De Jong get his full debut.

Chelsea XI: Cech: Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Matic, Ramires; Willian, Oscar, Hazard; Eto'o.

Newcastle XI: Krul: Debuchy, Williamson, Taylor, Santon; Tiote, Anita; Arfa, Sissoko, Ameobi; Jong.
