Manchester United v Liverpool: Projected lineups for massive Northwest Derby
Manchester United v Liverpool: Projected lineups for massive Northwest Derby

Manchester United are in need of a big win to jump start the crucial push for their run-in and the visiting Reds could be a huge win for them.

Manager David Moyes knows that a loss to Liverpool at home seeing the Reds pull a double of United for the first time in many many years would be a huge failure and result in even more fan backlash and media scolding for the club.

Javier Hernandez, Nani and Johnny Evans all remain on the injured list while Rafael could be a last minute decision but is expected to play for the home side.

For the first time in a long time the Reds travel to Manchester United as the favorites to get a result and continue their push to make a completely unpredicted run at the Premier League title.

Mamadou Sakho could see a return to the first team, but it is expect that the back line remain Jon Flannagan, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson.

Additionally Joe Allen and his hard working self should hold onto his place in the central midfield while Raheem Sterling is likely to reclaim his spot in the first team at the expense of Coutinho.

Lucas also is believed to be available but not likely to be involved from the opening whistle just yet.

If Brendan Rodgers can engineer a double over United he will be in an elite group of Liverpool managers and will continue to see his side have an outside chance at securing a title in a campaign well beyond what was expected to be possible.

United XI: De Gea: Rafael, Vidic, Jones, Evra; Fellaini, Carrick; Mata, Rooney, Januzaj; Persie.

Liverpool XI: Mignolet: Flannagan, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson; Allen, Gerrard, Henderson; Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling.
