One day before his side meet Egypt in the African Nations Cup qualifiers, Niger coach Francois Zahoui said he voted for Mohamed Salah to win the Best FIFA Men's Player Award.

Speaking a news conference on Friday to preview the clash against Egypt, which will take place at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium on Saturday, Zahoui said he picked Liverpool's Salah ahead of Juventus' Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric in the race for the prestigious award.

Twenty-five percent of the votes will be made by coaches of the national teams.

"My vote goes to Salah … firstly because he is an African and also because of his superb run until now." Zahoui said.

"Egypt boast one of the top three players in the world, this is enough to know how strong they are. This will be a very difficult game."

Niger are second in the group with a single point they gained from an opening draw with Swaziland. Egypt are at the bottom after slumping to a 1-0 loss to Tunisia in their opening match.
