The Football Association (FA) has confirmed that the England soccer team will wear kits sponsored by Nike for the first time next year, after ending their long association with Umbro.
The FA announced that the American sportswear giant would design and make the clothing for England's national teams, both men and women, at every level from spring next year.
"I am delighted that the FA has secured this new wide-ranging and comprehensive partnership with Nike," The Guardian quoted FA's general secretary, Alex Horne, as saying.
"I would also like to place on record our gratitude to Umbro and their significant contribution to the game, the FA and England teams, over a 60-year period," he added.
The contract runs until 31 July 2018 and replaces the deal with Manchester-based Umbro, who have supplied England's kit for most of the past 60 years and were bought by Nike in 2007.
The FA refused to confirm the value of the deal but it is understood to be at least the same value as the contract signed with Umbro . It also includes sponsorship rights at the new National Football Centre and Wembley and the supply of match balls for the FA Cup, the paper said.
"The pride and passion of England fans is renowned throughout the football world and we are delighted to partner with the FA," Nike's brand president, Charlie Denson said. (ANI)
