Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has reportedly set his sights on a possible move to Spanish giant Barcelona if he is dumped by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson at the end of this season.

A disgruntled Rooney, who is facing a losing battle to save his Old Trafford career and is expected to be sold this summer, is on a tense footing with Ferguson after being axed by the Scot from the line-up for the Champions League defeat by Real Madrid, the Daily Star reports.

According to a source, Rooney will love to move to Barcelona if he leaves United as he is a huge fan of the club and watches their matches all the time.

Stating that the English star has a first-hand experience of the might of the team, the source claimed that Rooney admires the brand of football played by Barcelona and will choose the club even if he gets other lucrative offers.

Meanwhile, Nou Camp star Lionel Messi has admitted that he would love to see Rooney and Gareth Bale join him, adding that they are great players and he likes to play with the best.

Rooney has faced Barcelona twice in Champions League finals and lost both times, in Rome in 2009 and two years later at Wembley, the report added. (ANI)
