Manchester United news: David Moyes needs more time, says Van Persie

Since David Moyes took over at Manchester United in the summer, there have been rumours that Robin van Persie does not like the training methods of the Scot. Van Persie was one of the injury prone strikers, but the last few years have been kind to the Dutchman. It is believed to have been the result of van Persie's attention to detail in training.

The rumours about van Persie not being happy with Moyes' training methods have been justified to a certain extent with the striker missing several weeks of action due to muscular injuries. The 30-year-old, though, has backed Moyes in a difficult situation by saying that the manager needs more time to establish himself at such a big club

A string of poor results and patches of good form have left United seventh in the table with less than half a season to go. According to the Guardian, van Persie said:

"I think he needs time like everyone, especially if you are new at such a big club.

"And to be fair, I don't think people don't understand that they have to give him a little bit more time, and I am talking about fans or even us. He will get that time and everyone is convinced that we will change things sooner than later.

"The manager is our leading man in that case and he is trying his best and I think he will turn things around."

Home form has been a major letdown for United this campaign. West Brom, Tottenham, Everton, and Swansea have been able to get victories at Old Trafford, which was a fortress just until last season.

The club has been reliant on van Persie and Wayne Rooney even during the time of Sir Alex Ferguson and it is evident even more now. The absence of these two players in the last two weeks has coincided with United picking just one win in 2014. Rumours surrounding the future of van Persie at Old Trafford have added to the turmoil.

Moyes was not expected to have an easy ride when he was announced as the successor to Ferguson. After all, this was the first managerial change that the club had to go through in almost three decades. Moyes will be happy that he has the support of van Persie.
