Why is the US Treasury threatening Lebanese banks?

US Treasury official Daniel Glaser threatened Lebanese bankers to consider their clients at this week's annual Arab Banking Conference, and linked the fate of Lebanon's economy to that of the international community.

“Past and current crises underscore an additional lesson. Then as now, international or regional financial crises require a coordinated response to safeguard the stability of the world's financial system."
