This article discusses the paucity of historical-fictional-critical movie production in Lebanon. The article examines several factors that play an important role in hampering fictional-historical films with a critical undertone. In addition to the absence of an established cinematic industry, and the scarcity of funds dedicated to cultural production, there lurks a censorship spirit at the individual, societal, and bureaucratic level. All this plays an essential role in fomenting a culture of terror, casting a multilayered censorship spider web.
