Fickle much? Amr Diab's 11th hour US concert cancellations may have caused him to be boycotted by agents
It all began back in 2006 when Amr Diab's US/ Canada tour with Lebanese band "The Four Cats" was the real meow. Concert agents were encouraged to invite the Egyptian superstar back for another around the following year because of how warmly he had been received. The year 2007 wasn't quite as successful for the songster and his agents, however, after he pulled the plug on three of the four scheduled performances in the country, but he promised them he would make it up to them in the future.
According to the Middle East news portal Elaph, four years later in 2011, advertisement for a new tour was announced for Amr with six sweet stops. Once again, he backed out of two of his six promises to step out on stage. Fans were disappointed, and concert agents were p-oed because they lost some serious cash from the cancellation.
This year, Amr said he'd hit up the Americas again, but, and you can guess where we're going here, he allegedly cancelled his big tour just a week before the start date.
So, what gives this time? Sources say he had demanded that only his picture be placed on the event posters, even though Wael Kfoury and Palestinian favorite Mohammad Assaf were on the bill as well. Fans then became confused whether there was one or three headliners.
Diab's demands didn't stop there either. He reportedly exhausted the organizers with his long list, which they met to the max, but all for naught,
Blaming the big bail on a sudden death in the family through a letter sent by his lawyer, Amr won't answer calls on the subject, even though organizers lost about 150k USD on the last minute cancellation.
The agents have finally learned their lesson and have decided to boycott Amr. He won't be getting any calls for contracts in the U.S.any time soon if they have anything to say about it!
