Al Wasl start new era with Maradona

Diego Maradona started his first official day as Al Wasl Football Club’s Head Coach yesterday Thursday the 4th of August as he led his team’s training session with support from his assistant coaches and staff.

Maradona had arrived in Dubai on Wednesday the 3rd of August at 11 pm and was received by Marwan bin Bayat, Chairman of Al Wasl Football Company. Twenty-four hours later and without wasting any time, Maradona set foot on the training field next to the main Zabeel Stadium and was full of excitement and energy as he led his new team’s training session.

Al Wasl players expressed their excitement as they saw their new coach approach the training grounds, and after a quick meet and greet, the hard work began. The training session was well organised and lasted for one hour and 45 minutes and included fitness and endurance exercises in addition to tactical training implemented through mini-games amongst the players.

Maradona who was joined by his assistants Ali Hassan, Héctor Enrique and Torito, in addition to Fitness Coach Xavier Vilamitjana, was extremely focused during training and interacted repeatedly with the players and members of his staff and was being cheered on by a large number of Al Wasl fans who attended the training to watch the football legend at work.
