Elections for 15 new directors of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) will take place on Monday. Over 50,000 members of the organization are expected to take part in the election for the board of directors.
A total of 140 candidates are in the race for 21 director's seat. Expatriate members of the organization will choose two of the 20 expatriate candidates for the board of directors. An additional six members, including two women, will be nominated by the government to the board.
A committee appointed by Ministry of Justice will supervise the election, which will take place at the old Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Center, according to Khaleej Times.
The committee includes Abdul Karim Ahmed Al Zarouni, Ahmed Hassan Al Hosni, Jassem Ali Al Shamsi, Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazroui and Mohammed Rashid Al Nuaimi.
A quorum stipulated for the elections is 25 percent of the total valid members. If the quorum is not complete in today's polling, a re-election will be held within two weeks.
Polling will continue uninterrupted from 9:00 AM local time until 8:00 PM.
