AME Info, the leading provider of business information in and around the Middle East, is a likely beneficiary of the surge in internet usage in India, where the company has just completed its first year of operations.
A recent United Nations report on the information economy reveals that the number of internet subscribers in India increased by 90 percent to 35 million over the last twelve months, putting the country ahead of other Asian economies such as China, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan in terms of internet take-up.
“As the report testifies, the online media in India is maturing faster than anywhere in Asia. That, together with the country’s geographical proximity and increasing economic ties to the Middle East, means that there has been a massive increase in demand from Indian businesses for online exposure in the Gulf, Levant and North Africa,” commented Rajesh Nair, AME Info’s Country Manager for India.
“The study corroborates AME Info’s commitment to India’s business and information economy,” continued Nair. “With the rapidly increasing number of Indian companies operating in the pan-Arab world, AME Info predicts serious business potential from India.”
In the last couple of months, organisations like India’s Department of Tourism, the Oberoi hotel chain, financial service providers UTI International and Prudential ICICI, and child development charity CRY have all used AME Info’s services to promote their products and services in the region.
“As the primary resource for business information in and around the Middle East, AME Info is an ideal platform for Indian companies to reach out to the business audience in the region and to tap the high net worth Indians who reside and operate in the Gulf,” said Lars B. Nielsen, AME Info’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing, and one of the company’s co-founders.
Earlier this year, AME Info joined giants like Emirates, Nokia and Oracle when it was awarded ‘Superbrand’ status and was voted as one of the UAE’s strongest brands for its pioneering work in acting as a channel for business development.
In May, AME Info became one of the first regional websites to win the prestigious “Webby Worthy” award, hailed as the Online Oscars by Time Magazine.
In July, AME Info also became the first website in the Middle East to be e-audited by ABC ELECTRONIC in London. The results of the audit, which showed that AME Info had 236,238 unique users at the time, demonstrated the impressive continued growth and reach of the website.
