As a result, Boeing was given two choices, either to pay the total fine amounts or undergo a trial. Boeing will have to pay $250 million for the fine amount, in addition to $455 million to build and improve its safety options and measurements. The U.S Justice Department agreed on appointing a third-party firm to follow up on Boeing progress over the coming three years.
The previous fatal crashes killed almost 346 passengers and crew members. Boeing is still waiting on U.S. District Court's decision as the appointed judge can decline the agreement or accept it.
Family members of the people who died are asking the judge to decline the agreement offered by Boeing.
