Canada's Fin Min Flaherty said he sees positive signs in the economy, and called the OECD forecast for Canada for 2010 too pessimistic. Flaherty said, "Certainly there are positive indications of stabilization in the economy. What we want to look for now are signs of the beginning of economic growth. We're starting to see some positive indications of consumer confidence, some increased activity in residential real estate." In regards to the OECD forecast for 0.7% growth in Canada next year, Flaherty stated, "Certainly the OECD figure for 2010 is below our assessment and below that of the private-sector forecasters and below that of the IMF. For all of those reasons I think ... it's pessimistic." USD/CAD has traded a range of 1.1533-59 in Asia after retreating from highs of 1.1585 in late New York.
