Sharjah's Coral Beach Hotel, formally a three star lodging facility, is to be re-launched on March 15, 2002 as the four-star luxury Coral Beach Resort. Under the direction of owner Sheikh Faisal Al-Qassimi, and Managing Director Sheikh Mohammed Al-Qassimi, the Resort will have a soft opening in the spring and is expected to open to the public with all facilities complete by September 2002.

Following extensive renovation, the Coral Beach Resort will be positioned as Sharjah's premier resort hotel with 157 rooms and banqueting facilities for 400 persons. There are six restaurants operating in the resort, including an Italian, Health food café and international buffet, in addition to a juice and pool snack bar. The hotel will feature various water sports with the option of lessons available to guests. New International standard tennis courts will also be on the hotel’s premises.

Commenting on Sharjah's future in the tourism industry, Nicki Page of Fusion Marketing, the project’s sales consultant, said “Despite the large increase in rooms supply in Dubai, Sharjah is still able to pick up overflow rooms in peak periods such as The Dubai Shopping Festival, the Airshow and GITEX. This offers an opportunity for hoteliers to attract premium rates in Sharjah.” — (menareport.com)
