The Egyptian Sirocco Aerospace Company has disclosed plans to purchase several new Russian Tupolev Tu-204-120 aircrafts. Company President Ibrahim KamAl announced that the firm would soon buy two more of the 200-seat planes, bringing its total fleet of such models to six, according to ITAR-TASS.
Kamal stated that the company plans to attain a total 36 of the Russian aircrafts in the future. An additional five or six, he said, would be purchased next year, while another 12 would most likely be added to the fleet by 2003.
The Tu 204-120 is an advanced aircraft design offering important benefits in the single-aisle medium-range 200-seat airliner market and also in cargo/package freight transportation.
The KATO Group, a leading international diversified industrial group based in Cairo, Egypt, is Sirocco's principal shareholder, together with other international investors. Sirocco's primary role is to develop and profitably exploit Kato's investment in Tu-204-120. — (MENA Report)
